Chemical Imbalance in the brain?
A chemical imbalance in the brain is when the brain has excessive or insufficient chemical messengers, called neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are natural chemicals that help ease the communication between your nerve cells. There are medications on the market that help regulate these neurotransmitters that can help. However everyone is different and reacts to medication differently.
Some symptoms of chemical imbalance
- feelings of sadness, helplessness, worthlessness, or emptiness
- overeating or a loss of appetite
- insomnia or sleeping too much
- restlessness
- irritability
- lack of energy
What to do if I suspect a chemical imbalance?
Talk to your doctor about symptoms. Most likely they will prescribe you a medication that targets the neurotransmitters in your brain. Yet, if you do not like medication they may also suggest talk therapy or you can also try Psychotherapy. This type of therapy will help you convert your thinking and behavioral patterns into healthier ones.
